5 Reasons Why ?Reno Renewal? is Overdue
It won?t take much. It has all the elements. The greater Reno area just needs a boost.
The solution is simple.
Reno, NV, May 15, 2011 -
The Reno, Sparks, Carson and Tahoe corridor offers more for visitors, conventions and gaming than almost any other destination. ?This Biggest Little City?needs to do something different?, says David Costa, of Renegade Concepts. ?Are we going to continue to do the same old marketing or reach out and promote our extended metro area like we have never done before? We offer an opportunity to develop real relationships with new visitors who will bring new business to our area.?
#1: Great weather
When people select a destination for leisure or business travel, weather is one of the prime considerations. The Reno and Tahoe area boasts some of the best weather in the country.
No high humidity, no excessive temperatures, no hurricanes. Most of the time, dry and sunny!
#2: Outdoor activities
The Reno/Tahoe area is consistently ranked as a top travel destination for outdoor activities.
There is something for everyone, young and old, adventurous or not so much. The Reno/Tahoe area is a four season destination for outdoor activities.
#3: High value lodging
Compare Reno/Tahoe?s room rates to anywhere else in the country, even Las Vegas.
Any business leader who is hosting a meeting would be eager to spend less on hotel rooms.
Much of the area?s lodging has been renovated. Great restaurants are accommodating of reservations for groups of all sizes.
#4: Easy transit
When is the last time anyone who lives in Reno was stuck in a traffic jam? Business travelers hate hassle when they arrive for a meeting. It is easy to get from one place to another in Reno and Tahoe.
The commute between Lake Tahoe and Reno is a no-brainer, most of the year. More shuttle options between the two locations would boost BOTH areas.
Getting to and from the Reno Tahoe International Airport is convenient, Amtrak has a station downtown and highway access is hassle-free.
#5: Plenty of Events
?When I plan business meetings, I look for something more?, Costa explains. ?If I can plan a business meeting around a local event, it creates something of value for my clients, employees and attendees.?
Many people prefer to combine business travel with leisure travel. The Reno/Tahoe area is perfect for such a combination. The Reno Air Races, Street Vibrations, Hot August Nights, The Rib Cook-Off, and much, much more are unique to this area.
Three keys to promoting Reno, Tahoe, Sparks and Carson.
Doing things the same way this area always has will not yield better results. The public is bombarded with too many marketing messages. Promotional efforts like what Renegade Concepts is describing subscribe to a formula that is proven successful. Marketing dollars are more valuable than ever. The promotional effort must demonstrate results.
#1: Consolidate.
What is included? Reno, Tahoe, Sparks and Carson function is separate entities. Consolidate efforts to create a large destination instead of small subsets.
A consolidated approach puts aside local competitive issues and reaches out to a whole new group of visitors that will make their own individual decisions as to preference once they get here.
#2: It is not about the local market?.but it is?..
In order to support local business, local development and local employment the promotional efforts must be focused outside of the local area.
We cannot build a destination by courting local gaming.
?Imagine how each new visitor prospers the local community.? Costa asks, ?What if many businesses supported one effort, and we were able to provide documentation as to our success every step of the way??
#3: Be different?.VERY different.
Not all promotional efforts are the same. To stand out, stand up and dare to be different.
?What is required is a promotional effort where individuals talk directly to individuals?, David Costa continues. ?There is a very clear path to provide new prospects with a ?reason why? during a relaxed conversation. Billboards, email marketing or print ads simply cannot do that.?
Air show marketing is one example. A local group of sales and marketing professionals is offering a turn-key solution.
The equation is simple. Attract new business to our area, by education. Renegade Concepts and Carnivore Racing use a formula of Interrupt, Engage, Educate and Offer, to drive business to our city.
Casino gaming creates employment opportunities and generates tax revenue for our state and local governments, while also serving as an economic stimulus for the local community. By prospering the gaming industry, we can also prosper the real estate market, new business development and even the local, ?mom and pop? enterprise.
?How many marketing professionals are willing to list, by name, the number of new prospects that their efforts produce?? grins David, the pilot for Carnivore Racing and the CEO of Renegade Concepts. ?We meet millions of people during an air show season. We will personally shake the hands of tens of thousands of them. We develop a relationship that yields demonstrative business for our sponsors.?
David Costa is a resident of Reno. He is the pilot of a Czech-built military jet that will race at the Reno Air Races this September. The L-29 Delphin Jet will travel to air show events all over the USA in 2011 and 2012. These air show promotional events will include media coverage in addition to the attraction marketing of air show events.
People love airplanes. The International Council of Air Shows estimates annual attendance at 10 to 12 million people in the US and Canada alone. Air shows are high prestige events with very loyal fan followings. Fans of air shows demonstrate a high level of sponsor loyalty and make up a higher than average demographic. David explains, ?The jet is the interrupt, it draws people over to us so that we can create a relationship. We let the kids sit in the jet. We do media rides. We establish communication and our promotional team earns the right to therefore educate these prospects about the value our sponsor provides. We select the ideal candidates to receive the offers from our sponsors.?
