In 2004, almost a year after the start of the Iraq War, David Kay resigned his post as the United States' chief weapons inspector in Iraq. Kay said his group had found no evidence that Iraq had stockpiled chemical and biological weapons before the U.S.-led invasion. His findings were at odds with assertions from the Bush administration at the time.
We spoke with David Kay the weekend after his resignation reverberated around Washington and the world. And this is what he said.
Dr. DAVID KAY (Senior Fellow, Potomac Institute for Policy Studies; Former Chief Weapons Inspector, Iraq Survey Group): Because of the breakdown of social and political order at the end of the war, and rioting and looting continued unchecked for at least two months, we're going to be left with ambiguity as to what we found. My summary view, based on what I've seen, is that we are very unlikely to find stockpiles, large stockpiles of weapons. I don't think they exist.
HANSEN: We've invited David Kay back to the program. He's now a senior fellow at the Potomac Institute for Policy Studies, and he's come into our Washington studios.
David Kay, it is really nice to see you again.
Dr. KAY: I'm very happy to be here with you.
So here we are, eight years after the Iraq War began. America's combat mission there has since ended. The weapons stockpiles were never found, they likely never existed. Do you feel vindicated?
Dr. KAY: Vindication is not the emotion that I felt for the last eight years at all. I first went to Iraq in 1991, after the first Gulf War, so I've had a great deal of contact with the Iraqi population over the years. I'm profoundly sad about what has happened to their society.
Now, let me be clear. Probably the largest portion of blame for that belongs to Saddam Hussein who tore the civil society apart to maintain power. On the other hand, we didn't do a good job either. And so, it's much deeper. It's sadness. It's also a strange sense of foreboding.
We've taken our eye off Iraq. We're now worried about Afghanistan. I'm actually far more concerned about the state of survival and stability in Iraq, as we leave Iraq by the end of the year.
HANSEN: How did that experience change you? I mean for a time, you were caught in the middle of a political fight about the pretense for the Iraq War?
Dr. KAY: Well, as is inevitable in this city, you lose some friends by what position you take on various issues. I discovered - although it really wasn't a new discovery - that candor is one of the values not valued in Washington.
Oh, what I miss most are the friendships that were shattered by that; just had staked too much of their career on there being weapons of mass destruction. And not only didn't we find them, we found they didn't exist prior to the war.
HANSEN: How do you think that kind of faulty intelligence can be prevented, moving ahead?
Dr. KAY: Well, I think it requires people who understand societies that they're making predictions and analysis about far deeper. We had very few people who are really experts in Iraq. I'm actually, right now, quite fearful for the future of U.S. intelligence.
The intelligence service has been merged essentially because we're at war with the Defense Department. And it's a combating terrorism organization, not one that looks strategically around the world to warn political leaders of what is over the horizon and they may have to deal with.
HANSEN: Where does al-Qaida figure into your threat assessment, given the fact that Osama bin Laden is dead?
Dr. KAY: Oh, al-Qaida is going to remain a threat, but I think that's where I worry about intelligence. You deal with that threat that you see right in front of your nose. And you forget, it's coming from a society that's in transition. And in some parts of the transition, the Arab Spring looks mildly optimistic.
On the other, there are others - the demographic status in that whole region is one that's genuinely frightened. I mean, to realize that Yemen at the end of this century, if the course doesn't change, will be the second largest country in the Middle East and yet it has no economy at all. There are frightening things there.
HANSEN: Do you think the U.S. is taking proper action to address the threats you've outlined? I mean you've given your criticism of the intelligence community, but otherwise in terms of, say, foreign-policy, diplomacy.
Dr. KAY: Well, look, I think what you have to deal with is far larger than what I've just described. I think on the horizon you've got to deal with China and India, as they emerge. You're also going to have to deal with something we haven't dealt with in a very long time; and that's the decline of a major power, Japan.
If you look at the demographics, the economy, as well as its exposure to natural events - such as the earthquake and resulting reactor disaster - we haven't recognized what is the result of a decline of a major power, in terms of Asian stability. So there's a lot on the horizon out there to worry about.
I am worried too much we focus on al-Qaida, jihadists. And we, of course - and I understand why - we're worried about what happens to Afghanistan because of the large American presence there.
HANSEN: I know that you've turned your attention to a different focus - and no pun intended in recent years. On your website you write: It quickly became clear that if you tell the Emperor that he is not wearing clothes, you should not expect the president's tailor and valet to ask you to design the next wardrobe. Time for a new passion.
For you that passion is photography. What does it do for you?
Dr. KAY: Well, look. It's just the nature of my personality. Something has to fire me continuously. That's just the way I am. I can't sit back and relax.
HANSEN: Does it keep you sane, optimistic?
Dr. KAY: Well, it's certainly - not everything. I've spent a lot of time over the last few years taking photographs for families at Arlington National Cemetery - that's not optimism. Although I am amazed at how families cope with losses, losses they didn't anticipate and often don't understand. But I am impressed by the resilience that I see there.
I think the American people should really be proud, not only of the courage and heroism of the people on the battlefield but their families who are behind living, and those who are left by tragic deaths. It's something that deeply moves you but moves you in a very positive way.
HANSEN: David Kay is the former chief U.S. weapons inspector in Iraq. He's now a senior fellow at the Potomac Institute for Policy Studies.

Step 2
A strong knife is to be pushed into the center of the rubber. It has to be made sure the glass is not struck. The rubber has to be cut all the way around for removing it. The glass can be now pushed out from the inside.
Step 3
The window would have to be removed with more force if the gasket can still be used. The glass sealant which is applied by the manufacturer has to be broken first. A wooden stick has to be run along at the meeting place of the gasket and frame meet.
Step 4
The glass would have to be gently pushed out with the help of the foot from the passenger seat. The glass should never be kicked. It should be pushed under the inside lip at the top with the wood stick for getting the rubber started through the frame.
Step 5
Help should be taken from someone else who should be on top of the car in front of the windshield. This person must catch the glass when it comes out.
Replacing the Windshield.
Step 1
Now the frame has to be prepared for re,installation. The rust has to be wiped out from the frame, the dashboard has to be cleaned and all sealant has to be removed from the new gasket. The gasket should be left in the sun for making it warmer and more flexible.
Step 2
The gasket has to be fixed on the windshield. A small bit of sealant has to be applied along the bottom of the gaskets half channel. The heavy side goes on the inside and the side with the slit goes on the outside.
Step 3
The petroleum jelly is has to rubbed on the outer rubber groove. A little extra can also be rubbed at the top and bottom center. Along the outer groove, a heavy nylon cord can be run beginning from the bottom center; a size of two foot long ends would also have to be left out in the center.
Step 4
The windshield has to be placed from the outside of the car. It should be made sure to lose cords are inside the car.
Step 5
One cord has to be pulled out slowly across the frame for pulling the rubber lip in place. The rubber can be pressed by someone else against the car for preventing the lip from slipping off.
Step 6
Any extra petroleum jelly left on the frame can be cleaned now. After this, the wipers and mirror can be reinstalled.

I?ve been a Southern Living Magazine subscriber for years and one of the things I appreciate in every monthly issue is the beautiful spread of decorating and recipe photos. ?The Big Book of BBQ app does not disappoint, delivering a nice collection of barbecue and recipe related photos. ?Viewable in both portrait and landscape mode, a swipe of a finger will take you from preparing the grill to cooking dessert and everything in between.
Recipes include a list of ingredients, a breakdown of time requirements (prep time, chill time, grill time, etc.) and directions. ?Some recipes also include additional bits of information in audio and video clips, cooking tips, advice on tools to use and extra recipes. ?Cooks have easy access to the Table of Contents, can jump from recipe to recipe or access the Southern Living website simply by tapping the bottom of the iPad screen and selecting the desired option.
I found this BBQ app to be a nice colorful cookbook with tasty looking, easy to prepare recipes,?much like those included in Southern Living?s numerous traditional cookbooks. ?However, while the app includes many of the basic interactive features found in other cooking apps, it has received some criticism from customers for its lack of detailed ?how-to? videos and features, like the ability to create shopping lists and mark favorite recipes. ?I didn?t miss those features but if you are looking for richer interactive features in your cookbook app, then this might not be for you. ?Personally, I think the content looks great and makes up for some of the missing bells and whistles you might find in other cooking apps.

What I didn?t like: The?videos were short and duplicated in a number of the recipes. ?There were also no video demonstrations detailing recipe preparation and cooking, which I find to be a nice bonus. ?Although it is not something that bothers me, some users may not like the fact that there is?no way to create a grocery list or mark favorite recipes.

If you are not familiar with Dr. Cooper's name, it was he who published a small book on exercise, "Aerobics" back in 1968. This was back when no one really thought very much about exercise except professional athletes and kooks. Not only did the concept only exist among athletes and a few researchers, but the word "aerobics" itself was new to the vocabulary.
At a time when many health professionals thought that exercise could actually be dangerous, Dr. Cooper began his research into the subject while an Air Force officer. What he learned, and has promoted for the last half century, has changed the lives and attitudes of individuals and even nations.
It was my accidental discovery of a copy of his book in a bookstore, and my participation in his aerobics program, which really propelled me into a lifelong pursuit of knowledge about health, fitness, and, eventually, aging and longevity.
I recommend a visit to his website for anyone interested in exercise, fitness, or just health in general.
On his site, for example, he lists the following 5 tips for aging gracefully.
Here are Dr. Cooper's 5 tips for aging gracefully, with my comments.
1. See a physician: Whatever your health is, or what you want it to be, knowing the facts and getting the assistance of cutting edge, and constantly developing, medical technology and knowledge is of prime importance. You can get a lot of this from your physician. Additionally, your physician can often spot developing conditions and help head them off.
2. Exercise regularly: It is best to create the habit of regular exercise as early in life as possible, but even starting in your 90's can still give you many of the health benefits of exercise. Check with your doctor before beginning any exercise program.
3. Eat properly: A balanced diet of low fat, low sodium and adequate protein and carbohydrates is important in prevention and treatment of high blood pressure, diabetes and other medical conditions, many of which are often assumed to be aga-related "facts of life". Not so. Proper nutrition, in fact, becomes even more important for seniors as it can help fend off so many illnesses and age-related health problems.
4. Fight off memory loss and mental deterioration: Many studies have found that conditions of diminished mental abilities and dementia can stem from many sources. The good news is that regular exercise, proper nutrition, mental challenges and activity, and social interaction are just a few ways to keep mentally fit.
5. Enjoy your old age: I was talking with a young friend the other day. He has had a deformity since birth, a twisted and withered arm. His attitude was summed up as "it's not what you've got, but what you do with it". Sure, there are many things that change as you age, but many of the changes are at least somewhat controllable, as mentioned above. The big point is that you can lock yourself away from the world and feel bad about "growing old", or you can get out there and enjoy life in whatever ways you can.
I was interested to notice, as I read the article on Dr. Cooper's website, how closely his points matched those in my article published online back in October, 2007, "What Can You Do to Reverse Aging".
It's not just a matter of great minds following the same idea, or of the student following the master. It doesn't matter whether someone is a Doctor who has one of the largest and most respected research facilities in the world, or is a retired army sergeant, ex-truck driver, and fitness nut, if they look at the results of study after study, they will come to the conclusion that aging gracefully is actually a pretty simple task.
It's your choice.

A condo unit is part of an entire building, and a buyer would then own this piece out of the building, but share some common spaces with other tenants (like hallways, exterior areas, parking garage.) Condos are convenient for those working professionals because they are often located near prime spots ? close to their work or transportation systems. Because the space can sometimes be small, single people or couples with no children prefer this type of space. While condo unit owners sacrifice space, they do get other benefits ? facilities such as swimming pool, tennis court, private security, minimal responsibilities, amenities and proximity to work or entertainment.

A landed home which usually is a terrace, semi-detached or detached (bungalow) is one that is usually located outside the central business district. They are in most cases larger than most apartment or condo units and often have an outdoor space, like a garden & yard. Families are the number one market for such properties, as they are often located near good schools and other amenities. Perhaps you want to invest in properties, but don?t want the responsibilities of a landlord? A Real Estate Investment Trust or REIT may be the best solution for you. Basically, a company would buy several investment properties, (which can also cover commercial properties) and put the together as an investment vehicle people can buy into ? like a stock where shareholders can own a piece of the company (in this case ? the properties listed in the REIT). In Singapore, they are called S-REITs and there are now 20 of them available on the SGX. The profits from investing in REITs come from the rental income, which are distributed to the shareholders.
Investing in Real Estate is not relegated to just the rich these days -any ordinary person with extra income can put their money in real estate.
